Lars Reinelt supports the KielSCN as Research Fellow
Evaluation of interactive visualizations, for example on the gut-brain axis
Since September 1, 2024, Lars Reinelt is supporting the Kiel Science Communication Network (KielSCN) as a Research Fellow. Over the next six months, his activities will focus on the evaluation of interactive visualizations in science communication. This includes, for example, work on the gut-brain axis in the context of neurodegenerative diseases.
Development of evidence-based approaches to improve visual science communication
During the fellowship, Lars Reinelt will work closely with the Kiel SciCom Lab to jointly develop evidence-based approaches to improve visual science communication. The overarching goal is to develop and evaluate new visual media formats to strengthen the transfer of scientific content. This also includes improving access to research topics and results.
Commitment to combining research and practice in science communication
Lars Reinelt studied communication science in Münster, Berlin and Zurich and was awarded the Ernst Reuter Society’s sponsorship prize for the best thesis of his year. He is committed to combining research and practice in science communication and is a member of the corresponding #FactoryWisskomm task force.
Prior to his KielSCN Fellowship, he was a research associate at the Transfer Unit Science Communication, a cooperation project of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and Wissenschaft im Dialog. He designed and carried out a BMBF-funded mapping study to record the science communication landscape in Germany. The aim of this study was to increase the visibility of projects and structures from research and practice. For his fellowship at KielSCN, he thus brings with him sound experience in science communication research.
About the Fellowship Program
The Fellowship Program is at the core of the collaborative approach at KielSCN. Fellows are part of the team and work here in an environment that fosters creativity, innovation and knowledge exchange. For maximum scope, KielSCN offers two different programs: the Creative Fellowship and the Research Fellowships.
